I love Taron egerton movies. I think he tried a different genre here instead of his usual action movies.

The series is based on a real story of a serial killer and very much based on American culture. I assume people exposed to American culture relate to it and one of the reason it got rave reviews.

The protagonist Jimmy Keene got arrested in selling drugs and weapons case and got jailed for 10 years. He gets an offer from police officer to get a confession from the antagonist who is accused of a murder and rape of young women and girls and arrested in a high security prison. A confession means the accused agree to the crime they committed and give the details. The protagonist gets to reduce his own sentence if he gets the confession from the antagonist. If he didn’t get confession, the antagonist will walk free.

Analysis

It’s an amazing watch to see how the protagonist and get antagonist bonded over the series. Their discussions between them are thrilling to watch as we are not sure who is winning. The cat and mouse games they play are interesting to watch.

The protagonist is not shown heroic but rather a man struck in difficult situations. The acting of the antagonist is amazing. You feel sympathy and also get terrified of him. Sometimes you root for the antagonist. The unpredictability of characters make it interesting to watch.

Director takes time to establish the characters and there are no gory scenes. The director made the series interesting with his writing alone.

The lead characters are well supported by other characters like police officers, serial killer brother and hero father.

Do watch it to get embroiled in superb acting, writing and direction.
